Officiating a Professional boxing or MMA Event

 Apply as an Official

To act as an official (referee, judge or scorekeeper/timekeeper) at a professional boxing, kickboxing or MMA event in the Province of British Columbia, you must have a valid licence issued by the BC Athletic Commissioner.

To apply for a referee, judge or scorekeeper/timekeeper licence, you must complete the online application form and submit the documents listed here. Referees and judges must also provide evidence of certification or an equivalent level of experience.

To apply for a referee, judge, scorekeeper or timekeeper licence, you will need to complete the online application form and submit the documents listed below. Referees and judges must also provide evidence of certification or an equivalent level of experience.

  • Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check (Tier 4) - you are responsible for all associated fees
  • A copy of your certification from an Association of Boxing Commissions endorsed training course(s) or other relevant training course(s) that are specific to the licence type for which you are applying
  • Copies of two pieces of ID, one of which shows your photo and is government issue (e.g. driver’s licence, passport)
  • Two passport style photographs (these can be taken professionally or at home)

And...

  • If applying for a referee licence; referee physical examination form
  • If applying for a referee or judge licence; eye examination form
  • If applying for a scorekeeper or timekeeper licence; non-refundable, $20.00 application fee

Applications will not be reviewed until all of the required information has been submitted. Your licence will be valid for one year from the date on which it is issued and also allows for officiating at BCAC sanctioned amateur events.

All officials are expected to read and abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Officials.

Please note: Your CRC will remain valid with the Office of the BC Athletic Commissioner for three years.

 Apply as a Room Supervisor

To act as a room supervisor at BCAC sanctioned professional and/or amateur events in the Province of British Columbia, you must be registered with the BC Athletic Commissioner.

To register as a room supervisor you must complete the online application form and submit the documents listed below;

  • Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check (Tier 4) - you are responsible for all associated fees
  • Declaration of Criminal Offences form
  • Copies of certificates from any other relevant training courses
  • Copies of two pieces of ID, one of which shows your photo and is government issue (e.g. driver’s licence, passport)
  • Two passport style photographs (these can be taken professionally or at home)

Applications will not be reviewed until all of the required information has been submitted. Your registration will be valid for three years from the date on which it is issued.

All officials are expected to read and abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Officials.

Please note: Your CRC will remain valid with the Office of the BC Athletic Commissioner for three years.
